Looking after ourselves

Re: Self-care - Why can it be so hard?

I was doing ok till my gym had to close

Re: Self-care - Why can it be so hard?

Thank you so much for your reply - thankfully I have an amazing treatment team - they're working together to help me - but I just want to die. I can't see my children, I can't visit my mum, I can't have an inpatient admission because of covid

Re: Self-care - Why can it be so hard?

I can hear things are difficult at the moment, despite having a great treatment team. COVID is really limiting the support options people currently have Smiley Sad

I'm going to send you a quick email to check in with you.

Re: Self-care - Why can it be so hard?

I think self care when our loved ones are acutely unwell is particularly difficult.

Re: Self-care - Why can it be so hard?

Taking care of my spiritual well-being this morning, cuddling the dogs, listening to some sacred reflections.

Re: Self-care - Why can it be so hard?

What tools do you use to switch on that kindness towards yourself?
One tool I try to use to switch on that kindness is to imagine a friend in my position.... What would I say? Would I encourage them to get some rest, to go easy on themselves? We are often more compassionate to others than ourselves so this can be a strategy to switch on some self-compassion.

interesting question @Tortoiseshell

what are my tools

Re: Self-care - Why can it be so hard?

I have been doing challenges online like sharing about music and books that I have loved. It has affirmed positive aspects of me and flood3ed me with memories while also connecting with different people in the present moment.  It was focussing on the self which became self care.

I signed up to 2 new online processes with people that I know irl

1) on meditation and 2) on sustainability.

Hugs @Shaz51

and best wishes @Former-Member @Tay @Jupiter @Tortoiseshell

If I log into the forum less, I am just busy, will be back before long.

Cheers

Re: Self-care - Why can it be so hard?

I don't really have any Tools @Shaz51 My Toolbox is Empty....

I remind myself to be "Self-Compassionate" (not so hard & critical) towards myself.

Seems to be working (slowly)....
