Re: Tabaluga's

yeah not heard that one @StuF but fair enough. used to be something on Oprah like 15 years ago saying you should have enough cash to live on for 6 mths if things go pear-shaped, if lose job in US tho, they pay you most of your last wage for like 6mths, then starts to drop off. aust one of worst countries in world for how they treat unemployed , if not all the money they waste on it, like be lucky if 25% was actually paid out, the rest is for wages, overheads, paying dodgey contractors to screw people over etc

In Australia, approximately six percent of the total social security and welfare budget is allocated to the JobSeeker payment, which is the primary income support for those aged 22 to age pension age who are seeking work. The exact figure can fluctuate due to economic factors and policy changes, says the Parliamentary Budget OfficeFor example, spending on unemployment benefits increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, almost doubling government forecasts due to temporary measures and incr

Re: Tabaluga's

Yeah @TAB  - that saying is more anti-extreme/obscene wealth, of course, but was just reminded of it

I'd not heard that about the US before...but I fear you're right about Australia being pretty crap at it

Re: Tabaluga's

thats pretty standard in europe re getting paid % of last wage  for dole ok it has time cap tho @StuF  think britain happy to pay like 200/week tho lol  they nearly doubled it in NZ, making it nearly 75% of what is paid in australia lol

Re: Tabaluga's

Too beholden to big business here @TAB

If some of the biggest employers/profit-makers etc paid all their reasonable share of taxes we might better afford a more decent social welfare system...but no, the 'bludgers' don't deserve any better

Anyway, sorry -heading towards rant territory! lol

Re: Tabaluga's

people dont even bother saying what about Norway or Netherlands re sovereign wealth anymore. just crap on about the levels of production in aust , which australia recieves Nothing for .. lol was hilarious , saw Woodside ad recently saying 'looka us' we are so good, we paid $5billion tax last year .. looked up numbers, was about 15% and they were only paying that after being sued by ATO for dodgy tax avoidance a few years before lolo

@StuF

Re: Tabaluga's
