in the headlights
Hey Sane ones
just been diagnosed with bipolar after decades of trying to walk the line. struggling to get my head around having a “ mental health” issue and the stigmas attached . How do you tell your partner about your Pandora’s box without freaking them out ?

Re: in the headlights
Welcome to the Forums @Noodlefight!
Thank you for reaching out here and sharing your recent diagnosis and the challenges you are experiencing. The Forums are a safe place to talk about mental health issues without stigma so thank you for opening up the conversation.
I know I faced my own personal challenges when I started experiencing mental health issues and stigma was something that I have had to learn to manage. There are supportive people in the community and in health care which can be comforting when others in our lives may not be. Learning to share comes with experience so be kind to yourself when you need to be.
Thanks again for reaching out!
Take care

Re: in the headlights
Hi and welcome, @Noodlefight , it's good to have you here.
I was wondering, can you 'reframe' your diagnosis in a positive light when telling your partner? Something along the lines of, "I finally know why my mood was all over the place, now I can start to treat it and feel more stable"?
Just an idea, please ignore if not helpful!
