The one who... oh, trick question!
I'm just an Anon on the internet who cares more about trying to wiggle some reprieve into your insides from their pain than about what other people are doing. They'll keep; internal compassion doesn't mean "never experience the consequences of their actions towards you". That would be harmful spiritual bypassing, imo.
You'll know what's useful for you to take on and what is best thrown in the bin re what I say.

Why is chat unavailable??

Hi @Strange ,
The chat option is currently open but will appear as unavailable if all the counsellors are on calls or other web chats.
please continue to keep an eye on it and it should change to available when a counsellor is free.
Take care,
Radius

Hi @Strange - I can very much understand your frustration. It's a pretty busy time of year, so it's likely all our counsellors are tied up with other calls/chats at the moment. Maybe check back in twenty minutes or something and see if it is available then ![]()

I'm so sorry @Strange, that is especially discouraging when you're in need of support.
If you are comfortable with making or taking calls, you can try the Help Centre on 1800 187 263, or head to this page to make a call booking for one of the counsellors to get in touch with you. Feel free to keep trying chat, and in the meantime you can also send an email to helpline@sane.org - it may not have the immediacy of responses that a chat provides, but sometimes writing things out can still be helpful.
If you would like to provide feedback on your experiences in trying to contact the Help Centre, you can always let us know via our feedback and complaints process. You can email directly to feedback@sane.org, or head to this page to see more options, as well as other information about our feedback and complaints policy.
Let me know if you'd like any further info ![]()

I'm impressed you got through on chat at all. Not surprised at the advice, unfortunately.
Individuals in the mental health sector are mostly caring, hard-working, etc. The mental health sector as a system is fundamentally broken. Generally speaking, people don't see it until they're on the receiving end of it. Some do, and that's when you hit gold.
Someone will apologise for the advice you got, or how you're feeling right now, or some other bandaid that likely makes you feel 0% better. They'll offer help in another form. Maybe it'll help, maybe it won't. I hope it does.
Frankly, I need you to live through this and get well by whatever your own definition of "well" is so you can form part of the resistance.
I'm heading out now to convince myself I'm a grownup who can make grownup decisions for myself on NYE. I'll be thinking of you. I hope you strike gold tonight, tomorrow or in a few decades' time.
Take care.
